DSM 2.9 NEW USER MANUAL 2011
We have just completed the new User Manual for the Software. The manual is now very detailed, contains more than 480 illustrations and is easy to navigate. We strongly recommend reading at least the introduction, before you start working with DSM. We now also provide you with an Online Form Service, or we can give you a way to integrate a web form to your own website, where you can collect all your customer data electronically filled in by your students. This way you can import all your customer information into DSM with a single click. No more typing customer data if you use DSM 2.9.1 to it's full extent!
The new user manual is included in the distribution package and is easily accessible from the start menu of DSM. |
NB. Installation of DiveShopManager on Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac Leopard.
Because the new operating systems don't allow files to be written on in the default application folder, from version 2.7.0, DSM will automatically install on the main drive of the computer and create it's own folder called DiveShopManager. This was necessary due to the new Administrator Rights in these operating systems. If you would like to install the software in a different folder you can simply select the destination, where you want DSM to be installed, during the installation process. The software will then automatically create a folder named DiveShopManager where your data and your backup will be stored. |

With the new release of DSM 2.9.0 we have added a few more useful fields in the customer and in the staff section of our dive center software.
Sometimes you will need to export your customer data or your staff data. There are several reasons to do this, one of them being an instructor leaving the dive center and wanting to take his student data with him. While this was possible since a while now, we couldn’t export specific fields in a specific order. We have completely revamped the entire export section on both, the customer and the staff database. The reason to do so was a client who works as an agent and needed to send customer and staff lists with particular fields to dive operators overseas. Customer and staff data can now be printed, stored as .pdf file and/or exported as .xls or as .tab file. The data can then be reused for all kinds of other tasks like for example, importing it into a sophisticated newsletter software like SendBlasterPro2.

Anything you might want to know, anything that is unclear to you and any problem you might run into, when starting to work with our Dive Shop Management software, can now be solved quickly and easily with our new live chat. Simply click on the blue button in the right bottom corner of the website and enter your question there. On Sundays and in the rare occasions when nobody answers right away, you can leave us a message in the same box and we will get back to you a.s.a.p.
You can also add prodata-software to your Skype, and reach us at any time over Skype, which allows for screen sharing and easy communication in case you want us to explain something directly on your computer screen.
Coming Soon! We are busy developing version 3.0 of the software, which will be revolutionary! Version 3.0 is not only going to be an update of the software but rather a complete rebuild. The first thing you will realize is that we reduced the software main files from the momentarily 11 files, to one single file only. This improves the performance immensely and will make the software a lot faster. Besides this; DiveShopManager also will get a new look! No worries though, it will all be at the same place and the software will be even easier to handle than it is already. We are planing the final release of DSM 3.0 in the middle of December. The best part on the new version is that DiveShopManager 3.0 will be completely network friendly. DSM 3.0 can be used for multiple dive centers and works perfectly fine on a terminal server. This allows for a master control and entries from all dive center to one single server. It will also work from multiple work stations in a single dive center. A test login to our terminal server, where you can try the functionality and the performance yourself, will be available soon. On August 10th we released version 2.8.1 of DiveShopManager. We have done several performance changes and we added a few features as well. The customer file has now an equipment rental form with the complete paperwork attached, ready to print out individually for each customer if needed. Already known parts of the customer data is automatically entered to the form.
We also added two additional fields in the diving equipment section of the customer file for booties and for weights. The latter may come in handy for planing beach dives with divers who previously made boat dives already.
We also created a new tutorial video on how DiveShopManager automatically calculates, and accounts for, fun dives in the staff wages section and in the customer invoice section. If you are trying DiveShopManager in your dive center and you are running into problems or you don't understand a part described in the user manual,please let us know and we will produce a tutorial video about it.

With the new version of DiveShopManager we have improved the partner section of DSM and created direct connections between partners and customers invoices. We also implemented a voucher section for customer who are referred by partners/agents. So if your dive center has agents working in town or in an other country for that matter, they can now either cash in the complete price of the services they sell for you, or they can cash in a percentage/deposit that isn't bound anymore on their commissions; thus can be as high as you wish.
Agents can then be billed out of the partner section of DSM for the reminder of the sum. The invoice for the agent can be sent via email directly out of the software or printed to be sent by fax.
The customer comes with a voucher from your agent and the sum of the voucher can then be added to the new voucher section of the customer invoice. The sum of the voucher will be automatically deducted from the customers invoice no matter what additional services or goods he/she will buy at your dive resort.
The easiest way to handle the goods and services that agents/partners are selling for your dive center is to add these items to the item section of the Dive Shop Manager Software. For example; if you give your agent diving packages including accommodation to sell you could first create a NEW ITEM GROUP and call it "Agent Packages".

2.6.4. is only a minor, nevertheless an important upgrade to DiveShopManager (DSM). In fact it is so important that we wouldn't want to wait until 2.7 comes out. Making more money for a dive center has always been a main purpose of DSM and 2.6.4 is a step further in this direction. You can now get accurate statistics about all sales in a dive shop. Upon entering a desired month, you are presented with a list of all items sold during this particular month and year. This way you can, for example, compare sales of the month August in this year, to sales of the same month last year, or the year before.
You will also quickly learn what sells best, what's trendy? Now you can push more advertising on these items and make them stand out, thus make even more sales. This tool will undoubtedly helps to detect trends faster and stay therefore to on top of things. The request for this feature came from a clever manager at Alvaro Diving in Koh Tao Thailand.
