DSM 2.6+ NEW USER MANUAL 2010
We have just completed the new User Manual for the Software. The manual is now very detailed, contains more than 400 illustrations and is easy to navigate. We strongly recommend reading at least the introduction, before you start working with DSM. We now also provide you with an Online Form Service, or we can give you a way to integrate a web form to your own website, where you can collect all your customer data electronically filled in by your students. This way you can import into DSM all your customer information with a single click. No more typing if you use DSM 2.6+ to it's full extent!
The new user manual is included in the distribution package and is easily accessible from the start menue of DSM. |
NB. Installation of DiveShopManager on Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac Leopard.
If you are using any of the above operating systems, you will need to install DiveShopManager to a location different to the default one. This is due to the new Administrator Rights in these systems. Therefore, DiveShopManager can simply be installed in a location such as, C:\DiveShopManager, instead of the default location, C:\Program Files\DiveShopManager or the Mac Application folder for that matter. You can simply select the destination, where you want DSM to be installed, during the installation process. The software will then automatically create a folder named DiveShopManager where your data and your backup will be stored. |

We are living in competitive times. The number of scuba divers around the world is growing on a daily bases. The scuba diving industry is one of the fastest growing tourism businesses in the world. On the other hand, new dive centers also open everyday, and like everywhere else in the business world, only the stronger ones and the most determined will survive.
To become strong in the diving industry you need a good marketing strategy and today this involves mainly a good internet marketing strategy. One of the most important rules of internet marketing is that most sales are made with email lists. Email address lists are the most valuable tool of internet marketing today. When a fun diver or an open water student signs up in a dive center, he willingly gives you his email address so you can later contact him. Most dive shops fail to do so, because they have the email addresses on the check-in sheet the student filled in when he arrived at the dive resort or on the student record file and that's it. Some resorts use Excel or something similar to collect their customer data, but most of them never use the addresses to send newsletters to their existing customers. This is a waste of a brilliant marketing opportunity, sitting right there in your dive shop, waiting to be made use of! Meanwhile, your competitors are collecting email addresses and sending out monthly newsletters to all the people who have been diving with them over the past years. These are thousands of people getting every month an email from the dive shop they have already been diving with and therefore, from people they personally know.

With the release of DiveShopManager 2,6,2, many tasks have become even easier. A NEW USER MANUAL has been added and each button of the software has now a descriptive tool-tip text. The moment the mouse hovers over a button it reveals all it's functions, in easy to understand words. After one or two weeks, when you don't need the Tool-Tips anymore because by then you will know your way around the software with ease, you can simply turn them of in the start menu of DSM. [...]

Our promised update of DiveShopManager to version 2.5 is a bit off the calendar. The main reason for the delay is that we had to build some more special request features like the password protected statistics and report area, allowing only administrators to create statistic reports and export data.
Talking about exporting data. DSM 2.5 will be able to export all invoice and cash register data for any range of time to an xls file. The xls file can than be imported to any bookkeeping software or excel table.
One more interesting new feature in DiveShopManager 2.5 and the biggest change so far is the ability to use the internet with DSM!
What about if you could collect your customer data prior to their arrival in your dive resort easily via a web form that is integrated or hooked on to your existing website? You could have all forms printed out and ready for signing at the customers arrival. Your customers will love you for that because it saves them valuable holiday time and your dive center will make a very professional first impression!
